YOUR INSIDER’S GUIDE TO CANMORE’S WINTER CARNIVAL (Feb 1 – Mar 13, 2016)

Karen Fennell Posted In: Adventure Time \ Family Adventure Posted On: February 09, 2016

Ah winter! The longest season in the Rockies. Thank you mother nature and our local events teams, for 6 weeks of snow-packed fun. It’s time to put your dancing shoes (or snow boots) on and celebrate — the 2016 Canmore Winter Carnival is here!

Canmore’s Winter Carnival has been an annual community event since 1996. Fast forward to 2016 and we’re hosting a very special World Cup edition.
The BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon kicked off the Winter Carnival in true sporting style last week at the Canmore Nordic Centre, and the FIS Cross Country World Cup (March 8 – 12) will be the finale. The 45-day Carnival will see over 70 local events at various locations across town, each week featuring a different theme.

"World Cup Ski Racing definitely steals the show in this years Canmore Winter Carnival. I also love the ArtWalk. The 2.8 km walk in the woods, connecting downtown to the Nordic Centre might be one of my all time favourite outings. Being surrounded by nature made me receptive to experience art in a way I never have before. It is like tuning into a different radio station. I felt and thought in a new way after."
– Sara Renner, Olympic Winter Games Silver Medalist, Team Canada

Here’s our insider’s guide to some
