Canmore Winter Carnival

Canmore winters are fun and full of magic. Every February we come together as a community during the Canmore Winter Carnival to celebrate the best parts of our unique winter lifestyle. With two weeks of indoor and outdoor events and experiences, the Canmore Winter Carnival is a favourite for locals and visitors alike.
Enjoy ice carving competitions, kids’ ice carving , skating parties, street hockey, log sawing competitions, the always entertaining pooch parade, art crawls and the popular Snowy Owl Kid N' Mutt races.
Programming varies slightly year to year so be sure to check out the schedule of events and registration deadlines.

Roam Public Transit is offerening FREE transit for the whole weekend on the Canmore local route.
Please consider taking the bus down to enjoy the festival.

Friday, February 2

Kids' Art Opening Reception
Canmore Civic Centre Plaza
5 - 8pm

Join us on February 2 at the Opening Reception for an evening of fun and to see your art displayed at the Civic Centre.
DJ, bonfires, marshmallows, performances and Kids' Ice Carving!
 


 

Saturday, February 3
9am – 5pm

Ice Carving Competition!
Canmore Civic Centre Plaza
Join us and watch talented carvers transform blocks of ice into magnificent works of art! This year's theme: Hockey!

9am – 4:30pm: Ice Carving Competition
3:30pm: Judging begins. Cast your People's Choice vote
4:30pm: Awards

 


 

Sunday, February 4

Snowy Owl Kid N Mutt Races
Canmore Nordic Centre
Cheer on families or individual teams of kids and sled dogs as they race down the track … nail-biting action! 

10 a.m. – 12 noon 5 & 6 year old little daredevils race for first place
12 noon – 2 p.m. 7 to 9 year olds turn to race down the tracks.
3 p.m. – 5 p.m. 10 to 12 year olds close the action packed kids' races
5 p.m. – 6 p.m. Families compete for first place.

** Schedule subject to change. Weather dependent event. We will cancel the event should the conditions warrant it.**

Saturday, February 10

Rogers Hometown Hockey in Canmore!
Downtown Canmore

Rogers Hometown hockey is coming to Canmore February 10-11, 2018. The Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour is a season long, touring hockey festival that visits a different Canadian Canadian Town each weekend over the NHL season. For more information on the Hometown Hockey tour click here.

Where & When

The festival will take place in downtown Canmore on Main Street between 6 and 8 Ave and the Civic Centre Plaza.
Saturday, February 10: noon - 6:00 p.m.
Sunday, February 11: noon - end of broadcast (typically around 10 p.m.)
