Hiking and Guiding Services

Alpine discovery hikes

One of the best ways to experience the mountain terrain is on foot. Several adventure companies offer multi-day trips into the heart of Canada's incredible Rocky Mountains.

Many people are tired of being confined by restrictive package deals that don't really offer choice and options. We believe that many visitors to the Rockies want to experience a variety of different things, in a variety of ways.

Some of the more unique six or seven night itineraries are led by two guides, and each gives guests the flexibility of making choices each day. Options include joining a guided hike to explore the Rockies, or spending the day visiting historic or cultural sites to discover what makes the area special. It's a perfect arrangement for people who travel together, but have different interests.

The operators place great importance on properly exploring natural wilderness areas. Highly trained naturalist guides ensure adventurous, but safe, treks that will be fondly remembered for a lifetime. Guests are fed wonderful food, housed in great accommodation, and exposed to a wealth of knowledge from highly experienced guides who help them discover things not normally noticed. And everyone benefits from small groups that have minimal impact on the environment.

Guests find themselves on a positive journey of self-discovery, and that's what vacations are supposed to be like.

Other Adventures:

Wildlife and Nature in the Rockies
A chance to see some of North America's greatest and wildest animals. Maximize spotting chances by learning habits and seeing signs of shy and diverse creatures like bears, wolves, moose and cougars. Each day in the Banff, Lake Louise and Kananaskis areas is a new wilderness experience - full of surprises on pristine alpine meadows, marsh edges and cliff bases.

Backpacking the Continental Divide
Travelling in the backcountry offers solitude, wilderness and a gratifying feeling of accomplishment. We make it much less difficult than it seems! Excursions offer the comforts of a base camp from which to explore hidden lakes and untouched valleys. Experience the sheer enjoyment of gourmet cooking in the wild. Learn the finer points of backpacking.

Sunshine Meadows Hiking
Easily accessed by a shuttle bus that snakes up the six-kilometre restricted-access road, Sunshine Meadows offers over 12 kilometres of hiking trails above the tree-line. Daily interpretive walks led by naturalist guides are free, and focus on alpine flora and fauna. Wildflowers abound between mid-July and mid-August, with fall colours flourishing by mid- September.

Winter interpretive programs in Banff
Daily interpretive programs focusing on nature and wildlife in winter are available via snowshoe, Johnston Canyon Icewalks, night tracks (a nighttime snowshoe trip), cross-country skiing and private guides.

Corporate/Teambuilding
Specialists are available to design creative, innovative teambuilding programs for corporate groups and conferences from 10 to 400 people. Activities centered on a theme are offered in Canmore, Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper and Kananaskis.
