Kananaskis Ranch Golf Resort is a friendly
public facility open for daily green fee use. Our location, where the
foothills meet the Canadian Rockies, is a beautiful setting for hosting
tournaments, group events, family reunions, weddings and staff events.
The pro shop is a quaint one room log cabin with hand crafted pine
benches which offer comfort and a spectacular view from the wooden deck.
The cabin is supplied with all your golf necessities, a licensed snack
bar and handcrafted pine furniture by the owner.
Power carts, pull carts, club rentals are available.
Every hole is unique, with smooth fairways, bent grass greens, a couple
of small ponds and a handful of sand traps. This Rocky Mountain golf
course lies in the shadows of Yamnuska Mountain on the North side of the
Brewster family’s 90 year old guest ranch.
John Down from the Calgary Herald describes the course this way: “This
regulation course (2,942 yards- par 35) gets your attention right away.
The first hole, the only par 5, measures a relatively short 504 yards
but it’s tight, tight. Keep it in play or pay a big price. The second
and third holes are 300 and 340 yards, with a pond cutting into both
fairways. The fourth hole, a 398-yard dog-leg right, and the 386-yard,
dog-leg right seventh hole, are the most challenging holes. Both dare
you to take a shortcut over the corner, but while you might get away
with it at the No.4, there’s almost no chance of pulling it off at No.
7. The two par 3’s, the 175-yard fifth and the 227-yard eighth, are as
different as night and day. A small creek meanders across the front of
No. 5 green. An elevated tee greets you at No.8, which offers a wide
fairway and trees down both sides and behind the green. Neither is
intimidating, just picture perfect.
For nature lovers this course is your ideal choice. There is an
abundance of wildflowers throughout the season, birdlife is plentiful
with the possibility of seeing a wide variety of species, including
Kestrels, Red-tailed Hawk, Golden Eagles, Bald Eagles and Osprey. A
family of mule deer may pay you a visit on the greens. The golf course
follows the moraines on the north bank of the Bow River, surrounded by
Rocky Mountain scenery…don’t forget your camera!
