We are a locally owned company that caters to Bow Valley Locals and
traveling guests. Our families roots date back to the early 1900's
John "Buck" Kaleta was born in Canmore in 1917. His love of horses
is still the same today as it was when he was a young boy. He had
befriended a lame buckskin horse and someone hollered out "Hey
Buckskin". The name has stuck with him.
Buck and his pals caught wild horses and broke them and they would
ride them up Spray and Whiteman's Pass to go fishing.
As a young man Buck worked with horses at the Canmore Mines. He and
his brother Alex also loved to play hockey and Alex was nicknamed
after the race horse "Sea Biscuit" because he was so fast. Alex
advanced to what was then the fledgling NHL. As young fellows they
didn't have any fancy hockey equipment or gloves. They used
catalogues for shin pads!
We want to save the rest of our campfire tales for when You come to
visit. The Canmore Ranch and local staff would love to share what
some people refer to as "Canmore's Best Kept Secret".
We are located directly across from the Canmore Heliport on a
private access road. Our several kilometres of Sleigh and Wagon
Trails trails wind through the forest, giving you a sense of "The
ole West".
Our facility is bordered by Spring Creek, a clear crisp stream of
mountain fresh water.
