The arts community is
alive and well in Canmore and the mandate of the Mountain Arts
Foundation is to maintain and to raise that profile. We strive to
celebrate all the arts which include visual, performing, literary
and any others that may not fall easily within these parameters. Did
you ever think what life would be like without music on the radio to
accompany us in our daily routines, without a night out at the
theatre, bare walls in our homes with no art piece s to adorn them
and make the place we call home a place of comfort. Art is around us
at all times, it is what gives quality to our lives.
The Mountain Arts Foundation had a very successful year in 2004-2005
and intends to continue that momentum as we begin another season.
After three years, artsPeak has become a proven event, we are very
proud of our Grand Piano housed at St. Michaels Church, our cultural
directory available on our web site and our instrument bank which
makes instruments available for “budding” band players. At this
time, we are looking forward to another successful Vic Lewis
festival – a major event for students from all over Alberta..
The Vic Lewis Band Festival is an invaluable educational musical
event for the students who attend each year from all over the
province. To come to a band festival in the mountains is a dream for
many of these kids and to then have the opportunity to work with
some of the best clinicians in the field, and for the entire
festival to be a non-competitive learning experience is a dream come
true. We need those people who feel that this is a worthwhile cause
to spread the word, to encourage support, not only in principle but
also monetarily.
Please watch for the exciting lineup of talent Theatre Plus has
organized for the coming season.
This small group of dedicated MAF members works very hard to provide
a variety of entertainment for adults, young people and for
families. We look forward to another enjoyable successful season.
