Valbella Gourmet Foods Wholesale

Valbella Gourmet Foods was established 1978 in Canmore, near world-famous Banff National Park, by Swiss master butcher and sausage maker Walter von Rotz.

Walter and his wife Lonnie started up a small sausage-processing shop and a retail store in downtown Canmore, and soon the European-style sausages found their way into Banff’s famous hotels and restaurants.

The little shop soon became too small and in 1982 ValbellaMeats & Deli (as it was then called) was established and a new 5,000 sqft. plant was built at Elk Run Industrial Park, at the eastside of Canmore.

Today, Valbella Gourmet Foods operates out of a 20,000 sq ft. plant at the same location, specializing in wholesale gourmet foods and specialty smoked meats. Valbella’s commitment to excellence, paired with European tradition and an innovative approach, has led to a well-recognized company with high-quality products. Valbella’s goods are now found in fine hotels, restaurants and first-rate food markets throughout Alberta.

Products now range from a wide variety of specialty sausages – such as Leek and Cabbage, Moroccan Lamb, Tuscan, or even a Venison Smokie – to air-dried delicacies made of beef or buffalo.
Presently, Valbella’s products are available wholesale at our plant, and at Valbella’s Deli & Café, adjacent to the plant. You can also enjoy lunch right here at the Deli & Café. Should you happen to be in Canmore, a visit to Valbella is a must!
