Mountain Skills
Know that you have the skills to start exploring the peaks of the
world's great ranges or to continue on your voyage of personal
development to become a professional mountain guide.
The objective of these intensive training programs is give you the
skills needed for independence
and self-sufficiency in mountaineering in summer and winter.
Top mountain guide instructors will coach and train you in all aspects
of modern mountaineering. Our approach encourages free thinking and the
development of mountain leadership. You will be trained to be a mountain
leader, not a mountain follower!
Training is in-depth, accelerated, intensive and practical. It is ideal
for guide training, GAP years or for a career break. It's about
developing your competence, skills and judgment in the mountains.
It is about action. You don’t gain judgment, skills and safe practices
in the classroom, you gain them high in the mountains and this is where
our semesters take place. Canadian Semesters are held in the Canadian
Rockies in the spring and fall. The Canada-New Zealand Semester starts
in January in the Canadian Rockies and finishes in the Southern Alps of
New Zealand. Both
semesters encounter the full range of seasonal conditions in the
mountains.
Commencing in 2006 we are offering condensed Summer and Winter Semesters
for those unable
to spare the three months needed for the Canadian and Canada-New Zealand
Semesters.
